Raku firing

I had a fun time with these guys! It’s exciting to try new methods of glazing and firing my pottery. This was the first time I tried naked raku. I thought penguins and kookaburras would be the perfect shapes to try it out on. Page through and see the results.

First Midfire in my new kiln

I woke up early in anticipation of opening the kiln this morning, but it’s still too hot. Overall it ran just as it should. 100 degrees per hour up to 1000 Celcius with a 10-minute hold. Then 60 degrees per hour to 1200 with a 30-minute hold. I was there when the kiln hit 1200…
